Tracking Your Best Email Results

Here is a brief view of how you can Measure your Email Marketing and Website Traffic.

Sending out email messages to your current customers can be a great way to collect information and generate sales or leads. It can also be a GIANT time-waster! Would you like to know WHICH messages get the best response?

Your customer email list is a good source for testing messages, offers, and images. Now make the email worthy of your time. When you use tools in Google Analytics your email message can include a link that gives you feedback. You'll be able to view a report that shows how many people opened your email.

With a Google Analytics account your reports show how many people clicked on your link in various email messages that you send. Not every message gets a click, but this is one way to get feedback and drive traffic to your site.

When you attach the special tagged link to an image or to text in your message, the tracking starts. You can even use more than one tracking link in your email message. Now you can see which link readers like best (top, middle, a P.S. link, or an image.)

1- Define your goal – what do you want to measure?

2- Pick your web page – what is the best page for the customer to land on?

3- What do you want to compare?

4- Create the message

5- Now create a 2nd version

6- Now you have A/B versions

7- In your Google Analytics account, create the special tag for the link

8- Assign each message a different campaign name

9- Send your Email messages and within 24 hours start viewing results in your Google Analytics reports

10- If you want help with web site tracking then CALL 425-746-2213 (Seattle time zone!) or email us here support@bigdogit.com and we’ll help you see who gets to your site!

-Test which Subject: line gets you the best response
-You could compare financing offers or different discounts
- Buy One Get One or 50% Off
-Compare which products get more interest
-If you do Trade Shows, ask your customers for Pre-Show feedback

Writing Your Email

Composing your subject line and message can be tricky. There are plenty of resources for email marketing tips and email etiquette.

-make sure they’ll recognize who the email is from
-keep the subject line clear and relevant
-keep the message short, clicking your link will get them to the bigger message
